Our multi manager fund range was launched in April 2008 by two exceptionally talented fund managers – Alan Thein and Tim Gardner – who still run the funds today. Having co-managed for over 10 years, their working chemistry is as beneficial to the range as their individual skills and experience. It’s this that sets them apart from others and has enabled outperformance across the entire range since inception.
Alan and Tim have complete ownership of the funds which enables them to be decisive and maintain strong conviction. They have a heavy focus on performance, and adopt a bold, proactive and
value-finding approach.

- Co-established the Legal & General Investments multi manager range in 2008 with Tim Gardner
- Joined Legal & General in 2004 as Director of the Investment Manager Research Unit
- Worked as a Senior Investment Consultant for Mercer Investment Consulting
- Became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2002
- Graduated from Oxford University in 1998 with first class honours in Mathematics
Tim GardnerJoint fund manager of Multi Manager Growth, Balanced and Income funds
- Co-established the Legal & General Investments multi manager range in 2008 with Alan Thein
- Between 2006 and 2008, Tim worked at the Investment Manager Research Unit
- Joined Legal & General as a Senior Investment Researcher in 2006
- Worked as an Investment Consultant for Mercer Investment Consulting
- Attained the IMC in 2001 and became a CFA Charterholder in 2003
- Graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2000 with first class honours in Biochemistry
